THE INFLATION REDUCTION ACT OFFERS REBATES TO HOMEOWNERS TO INSTALL HIGH EFFICIENCY HEAT PUMP AND OTHER HVAC EQUIPMENT.

$4.28 billion High Efficiency Electric Home Rebate Program

Low Income (<80% Median Income) $8000 for Heat Pump Systems

    • No Cash out of pocket, paid from state agency

 

Medium Income (80% to 150% Median Income) $8000 for Heat Pump Systems

    • Customer pays contractor for system, 50% rebate paid from state agency up to $8000

 

(The language in the bill allows for the rebates to take effect at the point of sale.)

High Income (150%+ of Median Income) $2000 Tax Credit (30% of Installed Price)

HIGH-EFFICIENCY ELECTRIC HOME REBATE ACT

Here are the caps on rebates for other upgrades made via the HEEHRA program:

  • $1750 for a heat pump water heater
  • $8000 for a heat pump for space heating and cooling
  • $840 for electric stoves, cooktops, ranges, ovens and electric heat pump clothes dryers
  • $4000 for an electric load service center upgrade
  • $1600 for insulation, air sealing and ventilation
  • $2500 for electric wiring

There is a $14000 cap on the dollar amount of rebates offered under the program. For instance, low-income homeowners can get up to 100% of electrification projects covered - up to the cap of $14000 in rebates - while middle-income consumers can get up to 50% of their costs covered by the rebates (also up to that $14000 cap).

ENERGY STAR FEDERAL TAX REBATES

Get a tax credit of 10% of cost up to $500 or a specific amount from $50-$300 on certain system installations. Must be within an existing home and your principal residence. New construction and rentals do not apply.

To this day Hometown Heros has done nothing to address the harm I describe in my original review. Their position online is ‘Gee, give us a call and we’ll sure be glad to help…and the guy who ripped you off and refused to do a walk through isn’t here anymore.’ Yet through this they made no attempt to correct their reporting to my insurance company — so nothings changed: they took advantage of me, never addressed the issues with the system itself and made sure I was denied my insurance claim. But online their response is ‘give us a call.’ When I asked for help to correct the record with my insurance so I could recoup some of the outrageous cost they did nothing but tell me they didn’t know who answered their phone and gave my insurance a totally fabricated report As a senior citizen I have been taken advantage of to the tune of $16,000 which is life changing and I never got to see my beloved pets but I found out my ex put one to sleep and makes the other stay inside all day. I am so sorry I ever heard of this Hometown Herod and still haven’t been offered any help whatsoever getting then to report my loss correctly to the insurance company If you’ve got older parents be sure they don’t get hurt by this company’s practices as I have. I do not know what to do and have suffered more it seems each time I attempt to get them to correct some of the the damage they have caused What I need costs them nothing but the harm they caused I feel everyday BAD NEWS ALL THE WAY AROUND -- BUT WHY? Why did I get such a bad deal/terrible experience from these guys? I've read many great reviews but my experience was beyond terrible. My HVAC was vandalized at the height of the summer heat which I needed to for my dogs safety. I contacted Bryan, the owner, who was very helpful on the phone but when it came time to do the work either he didn't show or called just before to reschedule. When he did come he did so only if I agreed to pay $15,750 upfront because he told me he needed that much money to cover his payroll. I agreed because I was desperate to help my dogs. After the installation I could not get HH to return to answer my concerns about the installation -- ever. GETS WORSE Next ,l when my insurance company contacted them with a couple questions about my new system they claimed my old systems worked fine I simply wanted to spend $15,750 in the middle of summer and they had no idea why. Whaaaa? My insurance company denied my claim because of this so I got stuck overpaying, getting no followup service whatsoever and NO EXPLANATION for any of this WHY? If you call these guys please ask them for me "What happened...I cannot get anyone to even return my call." THE REALLY BAD NEWS Follow-up, since these guys took so long to get to me I had to take my two dogs ( and my best friends) to my ex while I waited for Howetown Heroes. When the work was done, my ex refused to return my dogs -- so I have Hometown Heroes to thank for the loss of my pets -- neither of which I have not seen to this day. I RECOMMEND YOU TRY SOMEONE ELSE Needless to say I have never had a worse experience and feel I have been taken advantage of in almost every way possible and cannot understand WHY? UPDATE : ONLY AFTER POSTING THIS REVIEW I received the message below from ''the owner" of Hometown Heroes.I have called and left a message for 'the owner' in hopes that they will call back. I want to address the mistake in their response : The fact is... this is the first response I got since my HVAC was installed. MOREOVER, THE INSURANCE ADJUSTER FROM TRAVELER'S INSURANCE SPOKE WITH AND GAVE ME THE NAME OF THE MANAGER (WHO I NEVER MET) AT HOMETOWN HEROES WHO HAD MY CLAIM DENIED Additionally, I have a complete set of unanswered texts to Bryan 'the owner' of HH right up to and after the time he is said to have left the company. Stay tuned...and please wish me luck. These guys have put me in a serious financial bind and I still have not been able to see my dogs which I lost because of the delays replacing my HVAC

***UPDATE 5/2/25*** Had my Spring checkup this am. Worked with Levi. Very nice ans professional young man. This is a great company to work with!! ***Updated 2/28/24*** My neighbors and I experienced an EVERGY power surge yesterday causing leftover damages to our homes. I had no furnace on the coldest night all month. The surge took out the blower motor of my furnace. I called HH and spoke to one of the owners. A service technician was sent early this morning. Eric diagnosed the problem, explained it to me, and got the part. Took only a couple of hours. Eric was a great HH team member, nice to work with, and efficient. I can't say enough great things about this business. I live in Raytown MO and this young and upcoming company came highly recommended to me by a family member that is also in their business. Spoke with Bryan over the phone. Worked with Andrew on 2 separate visits. Very nice young men, both are very professional, efficient and on time. If you are looking for straight shooting and honesty, I highly recommend this new company.

Got an estimate on an HVAC repair, A/C wasn't blowing cold air. They gave us $2000 estimate to fix the leak and fill the freon. I just had it fixed for less than $500 a reputable small business owner. Hometown hero's is way overpriced on their labor and Freon. Do not recommend. ETA: their reply is trying to make it look like they never dealt with me, but all our communication was through my husband as he was available and I wasn't. I don't want to call you and talk to you. I know what I need to know.
