For the best attic insulation at a great price, call Hometown Heroes

Did you know that attic insulation is one of the most effective ways to stop energy waste? At Hometown Heroes, we’ve performed hundreds of attic insulation projects for residential customers across Kansas City, and we’ve seen firsthand what great insulation can do for a home’s energy efficiency. We rely on blown-in fiberglass insulation from our local friends at Owens Corning—one of the country’s most effective insulation manufacturers. As Owens Corning Air Care Professionals, we’re trained on the entire process. We blow it evenly to the right depth to achieve the highest possible R-values with minimal settling over time. The process is clean and quick with minimal dust. PLUS you’ll enjoy a lifetime limited warranty on the insulation itself!

Price

How We Price Your Attic Insulation in Kansas City

  • Attic Size & Square Footage: Pricing is based on the total area to be insulated, which is measured in square feet, as well as the target R-value. Larger attics or higher R-value requirements demand more material and time.
  • Existing Insulation Depth & Condition: If there's old, settled, or contaminated insulation to remove or level first, it adds labor and disposal cost. A clean, empty attic is always quicker and more affordable to perform.
  • Access & Attic Complexity: Easy walk-in attics or open access points keep prices down. Tight crawl entries, low-clearance attics, or obstacles like wiring, vents, and storage, require more time and care from technicians.

Our Straightforward Attic Insulation Process

  • Free Home Assessment

Ready to book your free estimate with Hometown Heroes? Call or book online and we’ll have a licensed Ownes Corning Air Care Professional at your door before you know it to inspect your attic and recommend the right R-value and amount of Owens Corning blown-in fiberglass for your home.

  • Preparation & Setup

We arrive with protective shoe covers and drop cloths to keep your living space clean. The team baffles around soffit vents (to prevent blocking airflow), covers recessed lights/can lights (for fire safety), and seals any major attic floor gaps before blowing. This ensures the insulation performs at its best without creating new problems.

  • Professional Blown-In Installation

Our trained technicians use the AttiCat® blowing machine to apply Owens Corning fiberglass evenly and to the precise depth needed for your target R-value (often R-38 to R-60 for Kansas City). The process is quick, low-dust, and covers large attics in a few hours. The final outcome is a thick, uniform blanket that resists settling and delivers maximum thermal performance.

  • Cleanup & Follow-Up

We level and verify coverage with rulers and infrared checks, clean up any stray material, and ensure vents/attic access are clear. You get a straightforward report on the new R-value and expected savings, plus the Owens Corning lifetime limited warranty on the insulation. We follow up if needed to confirm your home feels more comfortable and your bills reflect the improvement.

FAQs

Attic Insulation Frequently Asked Questions

Poor attic insulation often shows up in ways you can feel or notice around the house. Common signs include:

  • Uneven temperatures: Upstairs rooms are much hotter in summer or colder in winter than the rest of the home.
  • Higher energy bills: If you notice higher bills with no other meaningful changes to your home’s HVAC systems, your insulation may be the culprit.
  • Ice dams on the roof in winter: Warm air melts the snow on the roof and refreezes at the eaves, a common sign of attic insulation failure.
  • Aging insulation: Visibly thin, settled, or compressed insulation when checking the attic.

If several of these sound familiar, a free attic check can show exactly what's going on.

The recommended R-value depends on your climate zone and home type. Here in Kansas City, we’re in Climate Zone 4 (mixed-humid). The U.S. Department of Energy recommends R-49 to R-60 for Zone 4 to achieve optimal energy efficiency and comfort.

Most of the older homes we blow insulation into have an R-value between R-19 to R-30, which is usually insufficient. If you have an older home and want to see how your R-value holds up, give us a call.

Blown-in fiberglass (like Owens Corning) is loose-fill material blown into attics to fill gaps and create a uniform layer. It’s great for retrofits because it conforms around obstacles (wiring, pipes) without compression. Compared to other types:

  • Cellulose: Dense, good soundproofing, but can settle more and hold moisture.
  • Spray foam: Higher R-value per inch, air-seals perfectly, but more expensive and harder to remove later.
  • Batt/roll fiberglass: Easier DIY, but leaves gaps around edges and compresses over time.

Blown-in fiberglass offers excellent coverage, minimal settling, fire resistance, and cost-effective performance. It’s ideal for most attics when installed professionally.

Properly installed insulation actually improves ventilation performance by keeping the attic closer to outdoor temperatures. We always baffle soffit vents first to maintain airflow channels and avoid blocking intake vents. Owens Corning fiberglass is non-absorbent and mold-resistant, so it doesn't trap moisture when the attic is ventilated correctly. If ventilation is already poor, we flag it during assessment and recommend fixes (e.g., adding ridge/soffit vents) to prevent condensation or ice dams.

Owens Corning blown-in fiberglass insulation (like AttiCat® or ProCat®) comes with a lifetime limited warranty from the manufacturer, covering material performance against settling or loss of R-value for as long as you own the home. As Owens Corning Air Care Professionals, we also back our installation with a 1-year labor warranty.
