For the best duct sealing at a great price, call Hometown Heroes

Leaky ducts quietly waste energy, pull in dust and allergens from attics or crawl spaces, and make your HVAC work harder than it should. Here at Hometown Heroes, we use Aeroseal to tackle leaky ductwork. Aeroseal is a proven, non-invasive aerosol process that seals leaks from the inside, reaching tiny holes and seams traditional methods can't touch. Our certified technicians set up the system safely, apply the sealant through your ducts using proprietary Aeroseal fans, and verify results with before-and-after measurements so you see the improvement in airflow, efficiency, and air quality. It's a one-day job with minimal disruption, no wall openings, and a limited 10-year warranty on the seal. That means greater home comfort, lower energy bills, and cleaner indoor air without the mess of manual sealing.

Price

How We Price Your Duct Sealing in Kansas City

  • Home Size & Duct System Volume: Pricing is based on the total cubic feet of ductwork. Typically, larger homes or more extensive systems require more sealant and time to fog properly.
  • Duct Condition & Material: Older, damaged, or flex ducts may require extra prep (inspection for tears or insulation issues) to ensure safe sealing. Most systems are fine, but severe damage could add minor costs.
  • Additional Services During the Job: If we spot mold, heavy dust, or disconnected sections during setup, sanitization or minor repairs can be quoted separately. These costs are shared with you before your service, not after. No surprises, and we only do what's needed.

Process

Our Straightforward Duct Sealing Process

  • Scheduling & Pre-Check

Hometown Heroes are Certified Professional Aeroseal Dealers. So when you need your ducts sealed, we’re a fantastic choice. We’ll schedule an initial inspection at your earliest convenience, where we’ll perform an initial leakage test (using a blower door or flow hood) to confirm if Aeroseal is the right fit and estimate the scope.

  • Setup & Preparation

We arrive with protective shoe covers and drop cloths, access the air handler, and temporarily seal all supply/return vents with tape or plugs. A temporary access point is made (small hole in the plenum), and the Aeroseal machine connects safely.

  • The Sealing Process

The system fan runs while we fog a non-toxic, water-based aerosol sealant through the ducts. Tiny particles build up at leaks and harden to seal them from the inside (reaching spots tape or mastic can't). The process takes 2–4 hours depending on home size, with real-time monitoring to achieve up to 95% leakage reduction.

  • Final Quality Check & Cleanup

We remove the equipment, reopen vents, and run a post-sealing leakage test. You get to see the exact before-and-after numbers in airflow and efficiency. We clean up completely, explain what was sealed, and provide a 10-year warranty on the Aeroseal seal so you enjoy better comfort, cleaner air, and lower bills with confidence.

FAQs

Duct Sealing Frequently Asked Questions

Duct sealing is worth considering when your HVAC struggles to keep rooms comfortable or your energy bills seem higher than expected. It's especially helpful for homes built before 2000 (common leaky flex ducts), additions with poor connections, or systems in unconditioned attics/crawl spaces.

If you've had recent HVAC work, high dust levels, uneven temperatures, or a professional found leakage during maintenance, sealing can make a big difference in efficiency, comfort, and air quality.

Leaky ducts often show up in everyday ways you can notice:

  • Uneven temperatures. Some rooms stay hot/cold while others feel right.
  • Higher energy bills without increased usage (conditioned air escapes into attics or crawl spaces).
  • Excessive dust around vents or on surfaces soon after cleaning.
  • Whistling, whooshing, or rattling sounds from vents when the system runs.
  • Weak airflow from some registers compared to others.
  • Allergy or dust symptoms that worsen when the HVAC is on.

If several of these sound familiar, a quick leakage test during a visit can confirm and show the potential savings from sealing.

Traditional methods (mastic, foil tape, or manual sealing) require cutting into ducts or accessing every joint. These methods are labor-intensive, messy, and often miss hidden leaks in walls, attics, or crawl spaces. None of this makes for a good experience for the homeowner!

Aeroseal on the other hand fogs a safe aerosol sealant through the ducts from the inside while the system fan runs. Tiny particles stick to and seal leaks automatically. It's non-invasive, faster, verifiable with before/after tests, and reaches places that tape can't.

Aeroseal is 100% safe for everyone in your home, even your furry friends. Aeroseal uses a non-toxic, water-based vinyl acetate polymer sealant approved by the EPA and UL for indoor use. It's odorless, zero-VOC after application, and safe for people, pets, and the environment (similar to many paints or adhesives).

Testimonial

...completed an Aeroseal on our home…fantastic from start to finish.

“Hometown Heroes Heating and Cooling recently completed an aeroseal on our home, and we couldn’t be happier with the experience. Andrew, Tyler, and Nicholas were fantastic from start to finish. They clearly explained what they would be doing, showed us the readouts before they began, and then walked us through the results after the sealing was complete. All three were friendly, professional, and patient. They also made sure to clean up thoroughly once the job was done. The improvement was clear and we’re happy with the results. We would highly recommend Hometown Heroes Heating and Cooling to anyone looking for quality work and exceptional customer service.”
